Meet Our Leadership Team

Eutashia Calhoun

Executive Director

Eutashia Calhoun is a compassionate leader, advocate, and entrepreneur dedicated to empowering individuals and families through service, support, and community engagement. As the Executive Director of Heart of Hope Community Care, she leads the organization's mission to provide hope, healing, and resources to those facing life's challenges.


With a passion for helping others and a heart for service, Eutashia has spent years working to improve the lives of children, families, seniors, and underserved populations. Her leadership is rooted in compassion, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring that individuals have access to the support and opportunities needed to thrive.


Through Heart of Hope Community Care, Eutashia oversees programs and initiatives designed to strengthen families, promote self-sufficiency, and address critical community needs. Her vision is centered on creating meaningful change by connecting people with resources, fostering partnerships, and building stronger communities.

As a dedicated community advocate, Eutashia believes in meeting people where they are and helping them navigate challenges with dignity, respect, and encouragement. Her ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life has made her a trusted leader and a source of inspiration for many.


Under her leadership, Heart of Hope Community Care continues to expand its impact through community outreach, educational initiatives, family support services, food assistance programs, and collaborative partnerships that address social and economic barriers facing families throughout the region.

Marek Calhoun

Board Chair

Marek Calhoun is a dedicated servant leader, advocate, and community champion with more than 30 years of experience in the helping field, including healthcare, behavioral health, social services, community development, criminal justice, and law enforcement collaboration. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to improving the lives of individuals, children, families, and communities through leadership, advocacy, education, and service.


Marek has devoted his life to creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and helping others overcome barriers to success. His passion for service is reflected not only in his professional accomplishments but also in his extensive involvement in community, civic, and professional organizations across South Carolina.


Marek holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Management from Northeastern Technical College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Criminology from Coker University, a Master of Arts Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from Webster University, and a Master of Science Degree in Administration of Justice and Security from the University of Phoenix.


A respected leader throughout South Carolina, Marek serves on numerous boards, advisory councils, and committees dedicated to advancing health equity, workforce development, community empowerment, and public service. He is the Immediate Past Chair of the South Carolina Community Health Workers Association and continues to serve on its Credentialing Council. He is also a South Carolina Community Health Worker Ambassador with the Center for Community Health Alignment and serves on the South Carolina Agricultural Worker Health Advisory Council.


His leadership extends across multiple organizations, including service on the Lifting As We Climb Foundation Board of Directors, Community Health Alignment Initiative (CHAI) Program Advisory Committee, Coker University Black Alumni Network (CBAN), Mullins High School Class of 1992 Alumni Board of Directors, and the Pee Dee Coalition New Beginnings Transitional Shelter Advisory Council. He has also previously served on the boards of Chesterfield County First Steps and Darlington County Habitat for Humanity.


Marek is a proud and active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, where he serves as Keeper of Records and Seal for the Chi Iota Chapter in Florence, South Carolina. In recognition of his dedication, leadership, and commitment to service, he was honored as the 2022 Chi Iota Chapter Omega Man of the Year and recipient of the 2025 Superior Service Award.


His impact has been recognized at both the state and national levels. Marek was designated a Master of Advocacy through the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) Grassroots Advocacy Leadership Program and received the prestigious 2021 Award for Excellence from the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association (SCPHCA).


As Board Chair of Heart of Hope Community Care, Marek provides strategic leadership and guidance to support the organization's mission of bringing hope, healing, empowerment, and opportunity to individuals and families. His leadership is grounded in compassion, integrity, service, advocacy, and a steadfast belief that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Tarji Samuels

Vice Chair

Tarji Samuels serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Heart of Hope Community Care. She is deeply committed to serving others and making a meaningful impact in her community through leadership, compassion, and service.


She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from North Greenville College, where she developed a well-rounded academic foundation that supports her diverse professional and community-focused work.


Prior to her current leadership role, Tarji served for two years on the board of Stars Mentoring, Inc. in Michigan, where she supported community outreach efforts including Thanksgiving basket distributions and school supply drives for families and students in need.


With more than 20 years of experience in the finance industry, Tarji built a career centered on developing strong relationships and helping individuals achieve their financial goals. She currently works as a Patient Observation Assistant, providing one-on-one support and monitoring for high-risk patients to ensure their safety and well-being.


Guided by a spirit of service, Tarji brings compassion, dedication, and a readiness to help wherever she is needed. She is known for her caring heart, calm presence, and commitment to uplifting others in every space she serves.

Kadeshia Mack

Secretary

Kadeshia Mack is a dedicated mental health professional, autism therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and devoted mother. She is passionate about empowering individuals and families to overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve meaningful personal growth.


With a compassionate and person-centered approach, Kadeshia provides support to children, adolescents, and families while advocating for positive mental health outcomes and overall well-being. Her commitment to service is rooted in a genuine desire to help others navigate life's challenges and reach their full potential.

Currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Psychology, Kadeshia continues to expand her knowledge and expertise in behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and human development. Her dedication to lifelong learning reflects her commitment to providing the highest level of support and advocacy for those she serves.

Guided by her personal motto, "Never put a ceiling on your sky," Kadeshia inspires others to dream beyond limitations and embrace their potential. Through her leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication, she strives to make a lasting impact in her community while helping individuals and families build brighter futures.

Sherry Calhoun

Board Member

Sherry Calhoun is a strong, creative, and family-oriented woman who believes in living life with authenticity, purpose, and joy. Known for her genuine spirit and straightforward nature, she approaches every opportunity with compassion, resilience, and a commitment to making meaningful connections.

A proud mother and devoted "Mema," Sherry places family at the center of everything she does. She cherishes creating lasting memories with her loved ones and believes that strong families are the foundation of strong communities.

Sherry is also a passionate entrepreneur and creative designer. Through her brand, Krazy Krafting with S & L, she transforms ideas into unique and meaningful creations, specializing in custom designs, handcrafted items, and football-inspired artwork. Her creativity allows her to inspire others while bringing joy and purpose to every project she undertakes.

Outside of her creative pursuits, Sherry enjoys traveling, reading, meeting new people, and spending peaceful mornings by the beach with a cup of coffee as the sun rises. She values opportunities to learn, grow, and embrace new experiences while maintaining a positive outlook on life.

As a Board Member of Heart of Hope Community Care, Sherry brings a spirit of service, creativity, and dedication to supporting the organization's mission. Guided by the values of loyalty, honesty, respect, and authenticity, she is committed to helping strengthen communities and make a positive impact in the lives of those served by the organization.
